Kate Lawler is a British woman who became known in 2002 for winning the third British season of Big Brother. She was the first female winner of Big Brother UK. She received over 3 million votes, one million more than runner up Jonny. Since leaving Big Brother, she has worked as a television presenter and also as a glamour model.
In September of 2002 she became a disc jockey on Capital FM, a position she held until December 2003. She co-presented the breakfast TV show RI:SE from February 2003 until it was axed in December of that year.In 2005, she was one of the competitors in the ITV show Celebrity Wrestling, competing under the name, The Brawler. She helped her team, the Warriors, win the team championship, but was eliminated in the semi-finals of the individual competition by Leilani Dowding.
She now works as a club disc jockey in Europe and Japan, and is an occasional columnist for the UK-based celebrity gossip magazines OK! and New. As with many reality tv celebrities, Lawler has managed to retain a degree of media exposure including paparazzi shots of her at the beach and elsewhere and appearing in men's magazines wearing minimal clothing in photo features. On July 24, 2006 Ann Summers announced that Lawler would be the company's new model in its lingerie advertisements. In 2006, she appeared on Brainiac: Science Abuse, being electrocuted in an electric chair.
She was a presenter on Playdate, a late-night dating programme on ITV2, however it has now been axed.
Lawler was engaged to footballer Jonathan Woodgate, they split due to 'pressure of being apart'. She has been linked to Russell Brand, though she maintains they are just friends. Lawler suffers from anorexia, and her weight has been debated in many glossy magazines. She admitted to having a stalker in the summer of 2006. Kate Lawler has a non-identical twin sister, called Karen. She also has an older sister called Kelly and a brother called Robert.
